Safewill is an Australian online will service. This page sets out what Safewill's own website said when we read it on 30 October 2026: the price, what's included, how its legal review works and what it says it isn't. We haven't bought a Safewill will, we don't rate it, and we have no affiliate or commercial arrangement with Safewill. Prices and offers change, so check the live page before you pay.
This is general information, not legal advice. Will and power of attorney rules differ by state and territory. For advice on your situation, speak to a lawyer or your state's Public Trustee. AustralianWillKit.com.au is an independent guide operated by Dominet BV. We aren't a law firm, we don't sell wills or kits, and we don't draft wills. No link on this site is an affiliate link right now. We may earn a commission from will providers in future when a reader buys through a link on this site. If that happens we'll label those links and explain it in our affiliate disclosure, and it won't change the facts we publish. Rules, fees and prices were checked on official and provider websites on 30 October 2026 and can change. Read our general information notice.

On the same day, Safewill's home page showed a "50% off Wills" offer with an end date of 22 November. The pricing page we read listed $160. We can't tell from the pages which price applies at checkout on a given day, so read the checkout screen before you pay.
How the Safewill process works
Based on Safewill's pages, the steps are:
- Answer questions online about your family, assets, executors and gifts. Safewill says it takes under 20 minutes.
- Submit the will and pay. Safewill says starting is free and you pay at submission.
- Safewill Legal reviews it. The pricing page describes this as a check that you've used the platform correctly.
- You receive the will by email, ready to sign and witness.
- You print it, sign it and have it witnessed under your state's rules.
Step 5 is the part no online service can do for you. A will isn't valid until it's signed and witnessed properly. In every state you need two witnesses present at the same time, and whether a beneficiary can safely witness depends on where you live. Our witness guide has a table for every state and territory.
What the legal review is, and what it isn't
Safewill's pricing page says wills are reviewed by its affiliated law firm, Safewill Legal, to make sure you've used the platform correctly. That's a check of how you completed the forms. The footer disclaimer says Safewill isn't a law firm and isn't a substitute for a lawyer's advice about complex estate planning issues.
Safewill's home page also describes Safewill Legal as a Sydney-based wills and estates practice operating nationwide, offering probate and letters of administration, and a lawyer-drafted will service for complex estates. The home page says legal advice is available for its online wills. We didn't find a price for the lawyer-drafted service on the pages we read.
NSW Trustee and Guardian's wills page says assets held by companies or in trusts generally need specific advice, and that for assets overseas it's highly recommended to get advice from someone qualified in that country's inheritance laws. It also lists online services, some of which may offer review by a solicitor, as one way to make a will. If any of that applies to you, ask whether a form-based will suits your estate before you start.
Power of attorney
Safewill's power of attorney page listed medical and financial power of attorney documents for $99 and said they take about 10 minutes. It also said:
- all powers of attorney need witnesses, and the rules vary by state, which "generally includes a Justice of the Peace, or in the case of NSW, requires a solicitor"
- its enduring powers of attorney take effect only on loss of capacity
- in Victoria a new power of attorney overrides the previous one, while elsewhere you must revoke the earlier one separately
Each state's enduring power of attorney form and witness list is set by state law. Our power of attorney guide links each state's official page so you can check the witness requirements before you book a JP or solicitor.
Updates and storage
Safewill's pricing page says updates cost $15 a year, with the first year free, and that you can opt out at any time. If you don't keep the subscription, you can still change your will later by making a new will, which the state Acts treat as revoking an earlier one if it says so. A will is only changed when the new document is signed and witnessed, not when you edit an online account. Our guide to updating a will explains the options. Whatever you choose, keep the signed original somewhere safe and tell your executor where it is, because an emailed PDF or an online account isn't the signed will.
Charity gifts
Safewill's home page offers an option to leave a gift to charity in your will. We haven't quoted Safewill's figures on charity giving because we can't check them.
Who it suits, based on its own pages
From what Safewill publishes, the service is built for people who want to complete a will online, have it checked for correct use of the platform, and sign it at home. Its own disclaimer points people with complex estate planning issues towards a lawyer, and its own home page offers a lawyer-drafted service for complex estates.
If cost is the main concern, compare it with free and low-cost options before you decide. Queensland's Public Trustee prepares wills for free, Tasmania's Public Trustee lists fixed fees with free wills for concession card holders, and charity-funded services like EveryWill and Gathered Here say they're free. Our cost guide has the figures and sources.
